The People
As I was sitting in my backyard yesterday, pondering life, it occurred to me- life would be absolutely nothing without the people on the planet. Lots of people say that, but have you ever really thought about it?
Think about all the moments that mean something to you and they most definitely involve other human beings, being present with you for it.
All life is is a compilation of moments and feelings and what provokes feelings? Yes, people! Even if you think of it in an egotistical way; you want to have nice clothes and take the perfect Instagram picture, for what? To show to other people.
I even thought about traveling. I love to travel. I love this planet we get to reside on. Each sunset I see, blows my mind. But can you imagine traveling to all these exotic, breath-taking places and not having one human to share the view with, or even your thoughts on the view with? Nature is only as beautiful as the conversation you can have with others about it. Experiences are only rich when we get to share them with one another.
What would life be without each other? When we're in the check out line at the grocery store and you hear tidbits of people's lives and small talk and people trying to be over-friendly and other people getting angry at all the small- talk, because they have milk they need to purchase and you're taking 3 minutes of their LIFE! How beautiful is that?! In a grocery store line, we can feel happy, anxious, annoyed, and hopeful. We get to feel in grocery store check- out lines. That's pretty amazing.
The older I get the more the answer to the question nobody even knows is; people. Show up for them, make eye-contact with them, huff and puff at them, hug them, hold the door open for them, honk at them, wave at them, kiss them, laugh with them, stare at them, wonder about them, call them, email them, hold hands with them, surprise them, pray for them, love them, and thank them.
What would this world be without the people?
